For the fourth time in five years, one of WordSouth’s Regional Telco Magazine editions was honored with a TeleChoice Award at the annual PR & Marketing Conference for NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association. In total, NTCA honored three WordSouth clients’ entries as TeleChoice winners.

The WCTEL Connection, produced by WordSouth and published by WCTEL, received the distinction as “Best Customer Newsletter” in its category. Winners were announced during a ceremony Monday in Nashville.

“We’re proud of this TeleChoice Award because of what it means for our clients,” said WordSouth’s CEO and founder Stephen V. Smith. “The Regional Telco Magazine is a powerful tool for them to engage with their customers, and it has become the industry’s preeminent tool for helping them tell their story.”

In addition to the award for “Best Customer Newsletter,” two other WordSouth clients received awards. PRTC received an award in the “Local Video” category for its “Virtual Living Room,” and NCTC was awarded in the “Single-Target Print” category for its “Baby Come Back” campaign — both of which were produced by WordSouth.

According to NTCA, entries were judged on innovative strategies, design, writing, creativity and other elements specific to each category. The awards program is open to each of the more than 800 telcos who are members of NTCA and “honors excellence in independent telco public relations and marketing. “This is not the first time the magazines WordSouth produces have garnered national awards. The member magazine WordSouth produces for West Carolina Tel in Abbeville, South Carolina, won the TeleChoice Award for “Best Customer Newsletter” in 2017 and 2015. In 2015, WordSouth’s magazine for Ardmore Telephone Company (Ardmore, Alabama, and Tennessee) won the award in its category, coming on the heels of Mountain Rural Telephone Cooperative (West Liberty, Kentucky) winning the award in 2014 for another magazine WordSouth produces. Past winners have also included Farmers Telecommunications Cooperative (Rainsville, Alabama) and New Hope Telephone Cooperative (New Hope, Alabama).

WordSouth work also earned a TeleChoice Award for WK&T Telecommunications Cooperative (Mayfield, Kentucky) for “Single-Target Print Publication” in 2017.
